Getting Around Nadi, Fiji Island
Getting around Nadi is relatively easy, with seaplanes, helicopters, and two domestic airlines – Air Fiji and Sun Air – that provide quality air transportation services, bus and ferry services, rental cars, and taxicabs, all competing to make your travel around Nadi as worry-free as possible.
- Buses and Taxis. Buses are, by far, Nadi's most common form on transportation. Bus stops abound every town and village, although public buses may be hailed at any point along the roadside simply by flagging down the driver. Open-air buses are a more exciting spectacle than the air-conditioned buses that run through Nadi: one can take in Nadi's sights and sounds, breathe in the fresh Fiji air, and mingle with friendly locals.
Taxicabs, meanwhile, abound all throughout Nadi. One can simply flag them down and ride them to their destinations, most of which will allow the cab to drop you off directly in front of its facilities.
- Airlines. Nadi is nine kilometers from Fiji's central international airport. This airport is serviced by Air Pacific, Fiji's international flag carrier, as well as Air New Zealand, Freedom Air, and Qantas. Thus, Nadi is the principal port of entry for air travelers to Fiji, despite that it is almost diametrically opposite the nation's capital and largest city, Suva, on the island of Viti Levu.
